Eight people arrested following drug bust in Georgia

GEORGIA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Southwestern Regional Drug Enforcement Office announced the arrest of eight people following a major drug trafficking investigation in Southwest Georgia. Authorities seized 17 kilograms of suspected cocaine and 10 firearms during the operation.

The arrests were the result of a 10-month investigation called “Operation Halftime,” which focused on a conspiracy to traffic cocaine in Sumter, Webster, and Dougherty Counties.

Search warrants were executed on October 10, 2025, across multiple counties, leading to the arrests.

Jalen Lewis was specifically charged with trafficking cocaine, but not conspiracy to traffic cocaine.

The investigation involved collaboration between several agencies, including the GBI’s Regional Investigative Office in Americus and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The GBI said the operation underscores law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region and indicated additional arrests are possible as the investigation continues.
