OHIO — Northeast Ohio is bracing for a winter blast as subzero wind chills and lake-effect snow impact the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, temperatures across the area dropped below zero this morning, with wind chill values reaching as low as -5°F to -7°F in Cleveland, Akron, and Ashtabula.
These frigid conditions are expected to persist through Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, lake-effect snow will bring additional accumulation to portions of Ohio’s primary snowbelt.
Areas such as Mentor, Chardon, and Ashtabula could see between 4 to 8 inches of snow through Wednesday.
Heavier accumulations are forecast closer to the Pennsylvania border.
Residents are urged to prepare for hazardous driving conditions and dress in layers to avoid frostbite.
