SOUTH CAROLINA — Duke Energy’s proposal to raise electric rates drew public feedback Monday during a hearing hosted by the South Carolina Public Service Commission at the Anderson County Council chambers.
Duke Energy is seeking a total revenue increase of $150 million, or 7.7%. If approved, residential customers using 1 kilowatt-hour per month would see an average increase of about $10.30 on their monthly bills. Commercial customers would see an average increase of 5.4%, while industrial customers would see about a 5.2% rise.
Members of the public were invited to share their comments and concerns during Monday’s session.
The Public Service Commission will hold additional hearings across the Upstate, including one scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday at Greenville Technical College.
A decision on the proposed rate increase is expected by early 2026. If approved, the new rates would take effect on March 1, 2026.
