OHIO — A 28-year-old woman was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash early Sunday in Butler County, according to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision occurred around 5:40 a.m. in the 6400 block of State Route 747. Investigators say Yoan Perez Ventula, 27, was driving a Hyundai Elantra northbound when he crossed the center line and struck an oncoming Honda Civic.
The Civic’s driver, a 28-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Ventula was trapped in his vehicle and had to be extricated by mechanical means, the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies reported finding an open alcoholic beverage inside the Hyundai and noted several signs of intoxication. They also said Ventula had no identification and initially gave a false name and multiple dates of birth. Medics transported him to a hospital, and deputies later confirmed his identity before he was released.
Ventula was arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated vehicular assault, obstruction of justice, OVI, driving without a license, and left of center. The sheriff’s office said an ICE detainer was issued because Ventula is in the country without legal documentation.
The Butler County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant Poff at 513-785-1218.
