NORTH CAROLINA — Police seized firearms and narcotics during an operation targeting high-crime areas in Charlotte last week, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
The operation took place Friday night, March 20, and focused on areas within the Hickory Grove, North Tryon and University City divisions. Officers said several “problem spots” were targeted, including areas along Sugar Creek Road and University City Boulevard.
Authorities said traffic stops and proactive patrols led to the seizure of multiple firearms and large quantities of drugs. Officers also disrupted a street takeover during the operation.
Police did not immediately say whether any arrests were made and did not release details on potential charges.
The operation was part of ongoing efforts to address crime in targeted areas across the city.
