Drug leader arrested following investigation in North Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA — Authorities say the man they believe was running a “One Stop Shop” for illegal narcotics has been arrested following a multi-agency investigation.

Patrick Santana Edwards, 32, was taken into custody Tuesday morning by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force.

He faces multiple felony charges, including trafficking cocaine, opium or heroin, and marijuana; possession with intent to manufacture and sell synthetic cannabinoids; possession with intent to manufacture and sell a Schedule I controlled substance; and maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances.

The arrest is part of an ongoing investigation that has already led to two others being charged. On July 10, 2025, the Craven County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Bureau executed a search warrant at 220 Oak Grove Road in Vanceboro, which authorities say was connected to the case.

Jerry Bennett Anderson, 33, of Vanceboro, and Cameron Arthur Shepard, 26, of New Bern, are both facing numerous felony trafficking and possession charges. Anderson and Shepard remain in the Craven County Confinement Facility under $1.2 million bond each.

Edwards is being held on a $750,000 secured bond and is scheduled for his first court appearance on Aug. 14, 2025. Officials say the investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
