OHIO — A tragic car crash claimed the life of Otterbein University sophomore wrestler Josh Taylor, 19, on Thursday.
The accident occurred in the Thornville-Hebron area of Ohio as Taylor was driving to work, according to Brent Rastetter, the university’s wrestling coach.
Details about the crash, including whether others were injured or how many vehicles were involved, remain unclear.
Taylor, a graduate of Lakewood High School in Hebron, was a member of Otterbein’s wrestling team and an active part of the university community.
In a statement, the university expressed its condolences: “The Otterbein community is saddened by the tragic loss of a member of our Otterbein family. Josh Taylor passed away yesterday in a traffic accident. The thoughts and prayers of our entire community are with Josh’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
To support those impacted by the loss, the university is providing counseling services through its Counseling Center, Office of Faith and Spiritual Life, and Division of Student Affairs.
