Coach arrested after shooting two at Ohio little league football game

CINCINNATI — A man accused of shooting two people during a peewee football game in Cincinnati has been arrested and faces multiple charges.

Lamont Ragan, 29, is charged with two counts of felonious assault and one count of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises, according to court records.

The shooting occurred on Sunday evening at Walnut Hills High School, where Cincinnati police responded to reports of gunfire around 7:30 p.m.

According to police, an altercation between two men escalated when one, later identified as Ragan, pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots.

Two adults were injured in the incident.

Court documents state that Ragan, the coach of the West End Royals, fired the shots during the altercation.

Ragan’s attorney claims he acted in self-defense after parents from the opposing team, the Evanston Bulldogs, allegedly charged the field at the conclusion of the game.

One of the victims has been released from the hospital, while the second victim remains hospitalized with injuries to the neck, chest, and stomach.

The current condition of this victim is unknown.

Ragan is being held on a $100,000 bond for each felonious assault charge and a $1,000 bond for the firearm charge.

No children were harmed during the incident.

The Cincinnati United Youth Football and Cheer League’s playoff schedule lists the game as a matchup between the Evanston Bulldogs and the West End Elite Royals.
