CLEVELAND — Kevin Joiner, 24, of Cleveland, has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder in connection with the killing of Shannon Collins, Cleveland Police announced.
Joiner was arraigned Friday morning in Cleveland Municipal Court and is being held in the Cuyahoga County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
Authorities allege that Joiner “knowingly caused the death of Shannon Collins by means of gunfire” on April 17.
Collins, 38, from Euclid, was found dead on East 123rd Street near Imperial Avenue in Cleveland’s Mt. Pleasant neighborhood, having suffered gunshot wounds to his head, neck, and upper body.
Joiner is the third person charged in connection with the case. Charlie Cooper was arrested on April 30 and later indicted on charges of murder and felonious assault.
Nicole Meadows, 27, was also indicted for obstructing justice but failed to appear for a May 30 arraignment. A warrant was issued for her arrest.
In addition to the murder charge, Joiner is accused of a violent carjacking that occurred on April 10, where police say he assaulted the victim with a gun.
Investigators also believe Joiner is affiliated with the Heartless Felons gang.
Before his arrest, Joiner had been labeled as a “violator at large” and was wanted by the Adult Parole Authority. He had been released from prison in January after serving time for robbery and other crimes.
