POLAND TOWNSHIP — Police are investigating a crash involving an SUV and a Jeep that left several people hospitalized Tuesday evening.
The accident occurred just before 7 p.m. on Clingan Road, south of Route 224, when the two vehicles collided in front of a home, striking the house and damaging its foundation and front porch.
A witness reported to dispatchers that after the crash, three or four people jumped out of the vehicles and ran behind the home, engaging in a fight.
According to Poland Township Police, the incident is believed to have started as a robbery near a nearby church, which led to a chase involving the SUV, Jeep, and a possible third vehicle.
Police confirmed that each of the crashed vehicles had two occupants, all between 18 and 20 years old.
Four ambulances arrived at the scene to transport the injured to the hospital.
Their conditions have not yet been released as the investigation continues.
