Buc-ee’s to open first location in Indiana

INDIANA — Fans of Buc-ee’s may soon see the popular Texas-based travel center make its way to central Indiana.

According to a report from the Indianapolis Business Journal, the company is in late-stage discussions to open at least one location in the region, with Greenwood in Johnson County identified as the primary site under consideration.

Buc-ee’s is reportedly close to securing a deal for a 28-acre property near East Worthsville Road and Interstate 65 in Greenwood. The plan may also involve purchasing portions of neighboring land to accommodate the company’s large-format store and fueling area.

Three sources familiar with the discussions confirmed the information to the IBJ, but requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

The proposed Greenwood travel center would feature the company’s signature layout, including a large 24-hour convenience store, dozens of fuel pumps, and extensive parking for travelers. Buc-ee’s operates 54 similar locations across the United States.

In addition to the Greenwood site, Buc-ee’s is said to be considering a second location in Boone County. If both sites are finalized, they would be less than 50 miles apart, marking the closest distance between any two Buc-ee’s stores outside of Texas.

The company has reportedly signed a letter of intent for the Greenwood land and is continuing work to secure other necessary parcels. However, the purchase is not expected to be finalized, nor an official announcement made, until sometime in 2026.
