LOUISIANA — Buc-ee’s, the Texas-based travel center chain known for its large convenience stores and signature snacks, is planning to open its first Louisiana location in 2027.
State officials and Governor Jeff Landry, along with representatives from Buc-ee’s, broke ground on the project in fall 2025. The store is being built near Interstate 20 in Ruston, east of Shreveport.
The Ruston Buc-ee’s will cover approximately 74,000 square feet and feature 120 gas pumps.
The location will offer a wide selection of food and snacks, including Texas barbecue, kolaches, homemade fudge, Beaver Nuggets, and other meals and beverages commonly associated with the chain. The Louisiana store will also include a regional addition to the menu with the introduction of boudin.
According to the company, the Ruston location is expected to create more than 200 full-time jobs. Buc-ee’s has stated that starting pay will be above minimum wage and will include full benefits.
The store is currently expected to open in mid-April. Buc-ee’s was founded in Texas in 1984 and has since expanded to 54 locations nationwide.
