OKLAHOMA — Preliminary discussions are underway about bringing a Buc-ee’s travel center to Oklahoma, potentially marking the convenience store chain’s first location in the state.
Oklahoma City officials confirmed Wednesday that exploratory talks have taken place with the Texas-based company following renewed social media speculation about its expansion into Oklahoma. Kenny Tsoodle, CEO of the Alliance for Economic Development of Oklahoma City, said in a statement that conversations with Buc-ee’s have been preliminary.
“Like many other businesses, we’ve had preliminary exploratory discussions with the company, but no decisions have been made,” Tsoodle said.
Online reports suggested the proposed site could be located at Interstate 40 and Cimarron Road, between El Reno and Yukon. Officials have not confirmed a specific location, and no formal plans have been announced.
If constructed, the development would represent Buc-ee’s first Oklahoma store. The company is known for its large-format travel centers featuring extensive fuel stations, retail space and food offerings.
At this stage, city leaders emphasize that discussions remain exploratory, and no agreements or construction timelines have been finalized.
