NORTH CAROLINA — The body of a missing kayaker was recovered Wednesday afternoon in Lake Norman, according to the Cornelius Police Department.
Authorities said the call came in around 3 p.m. after reports that a person on a kayak went underwater and did not resurface.
Emergency crews began searching the lake near a cove in the area of Henderson Road in Cornelius.
Police later confirmed the body of a middle-aged man was located. Officials said the man’s family has been notified.
No additional details about the incident have been released, and the circumstances surrounding what happened remain under investigation.
