
VIRGINIA — A man’s body was discovered over the weekend in a wooded area near the Norfolk Southern Railway line in Albemarle County, and authorities are treating the case as a suspicious death.
According to the Albemarle County Police Department (ACPD), officers responded to the Covesville area on Saturday, June 28, after receiving a 9-1-1 call from a train passenger who reported seeing what appeared to be a body near the tracks.
Police arrived on the scene and located the deceased man. Investigators believe he may have died several weeks ago, possibly in mid-June.
His remains were sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are treating the case as a suspicious death. However, officials believe the incident was isolated and does not pose a threat to the community.
