GEORGIA — Police are investigating after the body of a woman was discovered near a bridge in Rome on Thursday.
Georgia Department of Transportation crews found the remains while conducting a routine bridge inspection near U.S. Highway 27 by the Car-Mart of Rome. The body was located close to a nearby body of water.
Rome Police Department investigators are working with the Floyd County Coroner’s Office to identify the woman. Her cause of death is currently unknown.
Officials said there is no “immediate threat” to the public.
