TENNESSEE — Authorities are investigating after a man’s body was found floating in the Cumberland River near Rock Harbor Marina on Saturday morning.

According to the Nashville Fire Department, first responders were called to the scene around 9 a.m. on July 26 after a fisherman spotted the body near mile marker 183. Emergency personnel recovered the body from the water and turned the scene over to Metro Nashville Police and the medical examiner’s office.

Police said the man was fully clothed, wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and black shoes.

He had multiple tattoos, including “1997” on his upper left arm and “Cashville” on his abdomen. His identity has not yet been confirmed.

Authorities noted signs of decomposition but said there were no immediate indications of foul play. The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death and identify the individual.

No further information has been released as the investigation continues.
