
OHIO — Authorities recovered an unidentified body from the Grand River on Thursday while searching for a missing man in Painesville.
According to Painesville Police Department, officers responded around 9 a.m. to the area of Beaty Landing along the Grand River to assist with a coordinated K-9 cadaver search.
During the search, crews located the body of a man submerged near the East Walnut Street Bridge, officials said.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene along with investigators. Authorities said the body will be transported to the Cuyahoga County Coroner’s Office for identification and an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Officials have not confirmed the identity of the man at this time.
Multiple agencies assisted in the response, including Painesville City Fire and Rescue, Fairport Harbor Fire and Rescue, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, its dive team, Lake Metroparks Rangers, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ohio Search and Rescue Team.
The investigation remains ongoing.
