NORTH CAROLINA — Police are investigating after a body was found in the Trent River Sunday afternoon in New Bern.
According to the New Bern Police Department, officers responded around 1:24 p.m. to a report of a body in the water behind 100 Sky Sail Boulevard. Authorities said a man believed to be in his early 50s was pulled from the river before officers arrived.
The cause of death has not yet been determined. Investigators say there is no threat to the public at this time.
Police, along with forensic teams, are continuing a death investigation. The victim’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Officials say more information will be released as the investigation continues.
