INDIANA — Authorities are investigating after a man’s body was discovered in the Big Blue River in Shelbyville.
According to the Shelbyville Police Department, officers were called to the river on reports of a person in the water. When they arrived, they found a deceased individual lying on a log in the river.
Police determined the body was that of a male, but his identity has not yet been confirmed. Officials said identification has been difficult due to the condition of the body and the amount of time it may have been in the water.
The Shelby County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the man’s identity and cause of death.
Authorities also addressed speculation circulating online regarding the identity of the individual, asking the public to allow investigators time to complete their work.
