NORTH CAROLINA — The Rocky Mount Police Department is investigating after a body was discovered in the Tar River near the 1100 block of Falls Road Monday morning.
The incident was reported around 9:30 a.m., prompting a multi-agency response. Officials said the Rocky Mount Fire Department’s Swift Water Emergency Rescue Team recovered a deceased male from the water. Authorities are working to identify the individual and determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Falls Road is closed at Ridge Street to facilitate the investigation, and motorists are advised to use alternate routes.
The road will remain closed until further notice.
