TENNESSEE — A Jackson County man was found dead in a Putnam County field just two days after being released from jail, authorities said.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from a property owner on Rodgers Cemetery Road, off Bryant Road in the Baxter area.
The caller reported discovering what appeared to be a human body while driving around their property.
Deputies arrived and confirmed the presence of a deceased individual.
Authorities later identified the man as 53-year-old James Russell Solomon, who had been released from the Jackson County Jail on Monday, Feb. 24, after being held on an aggravated domestic assault charge.
The sheriff’s office’s Criminal Investigation Division is now investigating the circumstances surrounding Solomon’s death. His body has been sent for an autopsy.
Officials are urging anyone with information about Solomon’s death or his whereabouts in the past 48 hours to contact Detective Etheredge with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Investigation Unit at 931-528-8484.
