INDIANA — Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist in critical condition Wednesday morning on the city’s near northwest side.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded around 5:53 a.m. to a report of a personal injury accident in the 1700 block of N. Tibbs Avenue. When they arrived, they found a male bicyclist lying injured in the roadway.
The victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators believe the bicyclist was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene before officers arrived. IMPD accident investigators are working to determine the circumstances of the crash and identify the driver responsible.
The investigation is ongoing.
