FLORIDA — A bicyclist was seriously injured early Wednesday after being struck by a car near Kissimmee, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred around 4:20 a.m. on North Orange Blossom Trail near East Donegan Avenue. Investigators reported that the driver of a 2019 MINI Countryman was traveling north in the inside lane when a westbound bicyclist entered the vehicle’s path.
The bicyclist was not using a marked crosswalk, FHP said.
The 29-year-old Kissimmee man was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the MINI was not hurt and remained at the scene.
Northbound lanes of Orange Blossom Trail were closed for about two hours while troopers investigated. The crash remains under investigation.
