FLORIDA — An 11-year-old boy was seriously injured Saturday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 1:20 p.m. when a Honda CR-V driven by a 17-year-old girl was traveling north on County Road 1. At the same time, the boy was riding westbound on Florida Avenue toward the intersection with County Road 1, where a stop sign was posted.
Troopers said the boy failed to stop at the sign and entered the intersection as the Honda approached. The front left corner of the vehicle struck the rear of the bicycle, throwing the boy from it.
He was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. No further details have been released.
