Bicyclist critically injured after being struck by vehicle in Indiana

INDIANA — A bicyclist is in critical condition following a hit-and-run crash on the near east side of Indianapolis early Friday morning.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a report of a person struck by a vehicle around 3614 E. Washington Street.

When officers arrived, they found an individual believed to have been riding a bicycle, suffering from injuries consistent with trauma.

The victim was transported by Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital and remains in critical condition.

Preliminary reports indicate the crash was a hit-and-run. IMPD-certified accident investigators are working to gather details and determine what led to the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
