FLORIDA — A man was taken into custody following a vehicle pursuit that ended with a PIT maneuver in Marion County, authorities said.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop when the driver, identified as Arnaldo Benitez, fled, leading officers on a chase through the area. The pursuit continued onto U.S. Highway 441, where the suspect’s vehicle was monitored by a sheriff’s helicopter from the air.
The chase ended when deputies used a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle. Benitez was then arrested without further incident.
Authorities said Benitez was wanted in connection with two armed robberies. Deputies also reported that one of the incidents involved a shooting.
The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
