GEORGIA — An armed robbery suspect is in custody after a SWAT response at a home on Carolyn Street early Sunday morning, police said.
The incident began shortly after 4 a.m. when the suspect took a taxi from a shopping center near South Marietta Parkway SE and Lake Street. According to police, when the driver arrived at the Carolyn Street home, the suspect pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the driver. The driver managed to escape and call 911.
When officers arrived, the suspect refused to come out of the home, prompting SWAT to be called in. Just before 5 a.m., SWAT members entered the residence and took the suspect into custody without incident.
The taxi driver was not injured. Police said detectives remain at the scene searching for the handgun used in the robbery.
The suspect’s identity has not been released. Authorities confirmed the individual will be booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center later Sunday.
The investigation is ongoing.
