INDIANA — A woman was killed, and three others were injured in a two-vehicle crash late Saturday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. Highway 27 South and State Road 122.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene around 4 p.m. and found two vehicles in a field southwest of the intersection.

One of the vehicles, a black 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, contained two occupants.

The driver of the Silverado, a 68-year-old man from Manchester, Kentucky, suffered significant injuries, while the passenger, 60-year-old Nannie Byrd, also of Manchester, was found unconscious.

Despite medical aid provided by deputies, Byrd was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Silverado was flown to Miami Valley Hospital by medical helicopter.

The second vehicle, a 2006 red Dodge Ram, was occupied by two juveniles who sustained minor injuries. Both were taken to Reid Hospital for treatment.

Preliminary findings indicate the Dodge was traveling westbound on State Road 122 and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection.

The Silverado, which was heading southbound on U.S. Highway 27, collided with the Dodge as it entered the intersection.

The impact caused both vehicles to sustain significant damage, and police believe the Dodge rolled at least once before coming to rest in the field.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the crash. No further details were available as of Sunday.
