OHIO — A Paulding County woman is celebrating a major lottery win after a sudden urge to buy scratch-off tickets led to a $500,000 Cashword prize.
The winner said she woke up feeling compelled to purchase lottery tickets and later stopped at Antwerp Pit Stop, where she bought five Cashword scratch-offs. After scratching the first ticket, she noticed an unusual number of letters and asked her husband to scan it using the Ohio Lottery app.
He confirmed the surprise: the couple had won the game’s top $500,000 prize. “We’re rich! We’re rich! We just won half a million dollars!” he shouted, according to the winner. Still in disbelief, she said she had long believed she would one day “hit the big one” and credited answered prayers for the unexpected windfall.
After taxes of 27.125%, she will receive $364,375. She said the money will go toward paying off their home and purchasing a new vehicle.
Antwerp Pit Stop, where the ticket was purchased, is located at 304 W. River St. in Antwerp.
