ILLINOIS — The Powerball drawing held Monday night, January 12, 2026, produced a significant winner in Illinois, even as the game’s top prize went unclaimed.
The winning numbers for the drawing were 5, 27, 45, 56, and 59, with a Powerball of 4. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
While no ticket matched all six numbers to win the jackpot, one $50,000-winning ticket was sold in Illinois, according to officials with Powerball. The prize was awarded to a ticket that matched four white balls and the Powerball without using the Power Play option.
With no jackpot winner, the estimated Powerball jackpot increased to $156 million, with a cash value of $70.5 million for the next drawing.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday night. Players win prizes by matching some or all of the drawn numbers, with the jackpot reserved for tickets that match all five white balls and the red Powerball.
Lottery officials encourage players to check their tickets carefully and follow state lottery procedures when claiming prizes.
