OHIO — A man from Willoughby is celebrating a $50,000 win after purchasing a scratch-off ticket from the Ohio Lottery.
According to lottery officials, Drew, a relatively new player, bought a White Diamonds scratch-off ticket at Tobacco Express on Lakeshore Boulevard in nearby Willowick. He said he had not originally planned to visit the store that day but decided to go out for a short trip.
Drew said he considers the location his “lucky store,” noting he had previously won $100 there. His luck continued when he played the $10 ticket and discovered he had won $50,000.
The winner said he became emotional upon realizing the prize, adding that he has been focused on improving his financial future. He plans to use part of the winnings to treat his mother and invest the remainder.
As of April 6, lottery officials said one top prize of $300,000 remains in the White Diamonds scratch-off game. The overall odds of winning are listed at 1 in 4.01.
The Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $34 billion to education since 1974.
