OHIO — The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported dozens of drug and weapons-related violations during a recent multi-state law enforcement initiative aimed at reducing illegal activity on highways.
Troopers in Ohio made 46 drug-related arrests and recorded 17 illegal weapons violations as part of the coordinated effort, which ran from March 5 through March 7.
The operation was conducted as part of the 6-State Trooper Project, a partnership among state law enforcement agencies focused on highway safety, criminal patrol and intelligence sharing.
In addition to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, participating agencies included the Indiana State Police, Kentucky State Police, Michigan State Police, Pennsylvania State Police and West Virginia State Police.
Across all six states, authorities reported a total of 583 drug arrests and 85 illegal weapons violations during the three-day enforcement period.
Officials say the project allows law enforcement agencies to work together across state lines to remove illegal drugs and weapons from communities and improve safety on highways.
