OHIO — A Hancock County couple is celebrating a $250,000 win after purchasing a $5 scratch-off ticket while spending time at home together.

Kyle, a Findlay resident, said he bought several scratch-off tickets, including a Jackpot Party ticket, out of boredom and brought them home to play with his wife, Amy. After initially finding no winning tickets, Amy noticed what she thought might be a prize while helping scratch the remaining tickets.

Kyle said he did not believe the ticket was a winner and likely would have thrown it away. After reading the back of the ticket and spotting a party hat symbol, the couple realized it might be worth checking.

They took the ticket to Pak a Sak #53, located at 1100 Trenton Ave. in Findlay, where it was confirmed as a $250,000 winner.

After state and federal taxes totaling 26.75%, the couple will receive $183,125. They said the winnings will be used for investments and savings.

The overall odds of winning any prize on the Jackpot Party scratch-off game are 1 in 4.18, with more than $23 million in total cash prizes available. As of Feb. 3, 2026, five jackpot prizes remain unclaimed.

The Ohio Lottery reports it has contributed more than $34 billion to education since 1974. More information about the lottery and its support for education is available at ohiolottery.com/supportingeducation.
