24-year-old arrested for Ohio murder

OHIO — Members of the U.S. Marshals-led Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) arrested 24-year-old Jamelle Swanson on Thursday.

Swanson was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police in connection with an aggravated murder case.

According to police, the incident occurred on August 3, 2024, when officers from the 5th District responded to reports of a fight in progress on the 1000 block of E. 72nd Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims.

Anthony Williams, 22, had suffered fatal gunshot wounds, while Antwoine Sandford, 24, was found with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Swanson was later identified as a suspect in the shooting, leading to the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.

He was apprehended outside an apartment in the 10300 block of Miles Avenue in Cleveland.

“As the Cleveland Division of Police continues to solve homicide cases, we will continue to assist taking dangerous fugitives off the street. Our outstanding partnership helps make Cleveland a safer place to live,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott.

The NOVFTF includes members from several federal, state, and local agencies, including the Cleveland Police Department, Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
