23-year-old dead after crashing into pole in Indiana

INDIANA — A 23-year-old man died early Sunday morning after crashing his car into a pole on Klerner Lane, according to Indiana State Police.

The crash occurred around 1:40 a.m. in the 1800 block of Klerner Lane.

Police said Cole Lamkin, of Charlestown, Indiana, was driving alone when his vehicle left the roadway, striking a mailbox and a utility pole.

Lamkin was transported to UofL Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators said there were no indications that alcohol, drugs, or weather contributed to the crash.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
