GEORGIA — A multi-agency law enforcement operation resulted in 22 arrests and the seizure of large amounts of illegal drugs during a coordinated effort targeting fugitives and narcotics activity in the Georgia-Alabama region.

According to the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office, Operation Safe Streets involved multiple agencies, including the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office Collaborative Intelligence Group and Special Operations Unit, Coweta County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia State Patrol, Russell County Sheriff’s Office and the Phenix City Police Department.

Authorities said the operation focused on wanted fugitives and ongoing narcotics investigations in Muscogee and Russell counties. In total, law enforcement cleared 55 outstanding arrest warrants.

During the operation, officers seized 88 grams of fentanyl, 4.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, 1.45 pounds of cocaine and 1.9 pounds of marijuana. Officials estimated the total street value of the drugs at more than $522,000. Investigators also noted the amount of fentanyl recovered had the potential to be lethal to tens of thousands of people.

In addition to drugs, officers confiscated eight firearms, two vehicles and more than $11,800 in cash. One stolen vehicle was also recovered.

Authorities said those arrested face a range of charges, including drug trafficking, weapons offenses, probation violations and other felony crimes.
