
MICHIGAN — A 21-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning in Burr Oak Township, according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a report of an unresponsive person along the roadside near US-12 and Burr Oak Road at 7:09 a.m. Emergency personnel arrived and determined that the victim, identified as Kayden Gruver, was deceased.
Preliminary findings indicate Gruver was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. Investigators believe the vehicle involved may be a 2007–2015 GMC Sierra or Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck with front-end damage on the passenger side.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who had contact with Gruver the night before or the morning of the incident to come forward. Residents and businesses in the area are also urged to review any available security or camera footage from the time of the crash.
