OHIO — A man who was shot in the Forest Park East neighborhood of north Columbus on Sunday has died, and the suspect in custody now faces a murder charge.
According to Columbus police, 24-year-old Darreion Davis succumbed to his injuries Wednesday evening at 6:43 p.m., three days after being found with life-threatening gunshot wounds in the 1900 block of Deborah Court.
Police initially reported that Davis was unlikely to survive.
Homicide detectives began investigating the incident immediately, leading to the arrest of 20-year-old Alise Schlaegel.
She was initially charged with felonious assault and held at the Franklin County Jail.
Following Davis’s death, police announced Thursday morning that an additional murder charge has been filed against Schlaegel.
She had been issued a $500,000 bond in Franklin County Municipal Court on the felonious assault charge, but no arraignment date has been set for the new murder charge.
The investigation is ongoing.
