NORTH CAROLINA — A 20-year-old man was shot and killed early Sunday morning in Winston-Salem, according to police.
Officers with the Winston-Salem Police Department responded to a reported shooting on North Patterson Avenue near 30th Street around 12:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found Deshaun Capers suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe the incident was isolated. No suspect information has been released at this time.
North Patterson Avenue was closed between 30th Street and Indiana Avenue for over an hour during the investigation but has since reopened.
The investigation remains ongoing.
