NORTH CAROLINA — Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man who was found wounded early Sunday on East Florida Street.
Emergency crews were called to the 400 block of East Florida Street around 6:47 a.m. and found Kayden Latrell Newman suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the torso. First responders began life-saving measures, and Newman was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died later in the morning. Police said his family has been notified.
Detectives have not released information on a possible motive or suspect. The investigation remains active.
The killing marks Greensboro’s 35th homicide of 2025.
