PORTAGE COUNTY — A 20-year-old man from Pittsburgh died in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning in Portage County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred on I-76 westbound near milepost 42 in Edinburg Township around 6:44 a.m. on October 21.
OSHP reported that Christopher Underwood was driving a 2018 Ford EcoSport when the vehicle veered off the left side of the road, struck the median barrier, returned to the roadway, and then went off the right side.
The vehicle hit a ditch and overturned.
Underwood suffered serious injuries and was transported to University Hospitals Portage Medical Center, where he later died.
OSHP said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, but the cause of the vehicle leaving the road remains under investigation.
