OHIO — An increased police presence is expected at Summit Mall over the next few days following a massive brawl involving more than 200 teenagers Thursday evening.
The fight, which police say was pre-coordinated, broke out inside the mall around 5:30 p.m. and quickly spread to the parking lot.
By the end of the altercation, officers had arrested 20 unsupervised juveniles. They face charges including disorderly conduct, trespassing, and obstruction of justice.
One female teenager allegedly punched a deputy in the face during the chaos and now faces felony assault charges for attacking a peace officer.
Authorities emphasized that false information spread online after the incident, including rumors of gunfire at the mall, was inaccurate.
Police believe the teens, aged 13 to 17, gathered to fight, spectate, or record the event on their phones.
Summit Mall has not issued a public statement about the incident as of Friday morning.
