$2 million lottery ticket winner sold in Ohio

OHIO — A local lottery player struck it big with a $2 million prize from the Ohio Lottery’s Mining for Millions scratch-off game.

The lucky ticket was purchased at Avenue Beverage on Mentor Avenue, as confirmed by lottery officials.

The winner chose the cash option, receiving an upfront payment of $1 million.

After mandatory state and federal tax withholdings totaling 28%, they will take home around $720,000.

Mining for Millions, a $20 scratch-off game, features a top prize of $80,000 per year for 25 years, with one such prize still available as of November 4.

News of the big win has created a surge of excitement around the popular scratch-off.
