OHIO — A routine stop for a drink turned into a life-changing moment for one lucky Ohio man.

Andy, a Portsmouth resident, won a $2 million top prize after purchasing a $2,000,000 Cashword scratch-off ticket from Clark’s Pump-N-Shop #34, located at 3008 Scioto Trail.

“Just for some reason, I decided to buy a lottery ticket, and it happened to be a $2 million winner,” Andy said.

At first, he didn’t realize the magnitude of his win. The crossword-style scratch-off led him to believe he had won just $2,000.

After selecting the cash option, Andy will receive a lump sum of $1 million.

Following mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 28%, he will take home approximately $720,000.

He has yet to decide how he will use his winnings.

$2,000,000 Cashword is a $30 scratch-off game offering a top prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years.

As of March 3, two top prizes remain.

Since 1974, the Ohio Lottery has contributed more than $33 billion to education. More information about the Ohio Lottery and its impact on schools can be found at www.ohiolottery.com/supportingeducation.
