OHIO — A woman was killed and a teenage girl was injured in a shooting early Sunday morning in Cleveland’s Slavic Village neighborhood, according to police.
Officers with the Cleveland Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert reporting gunfire in the 7000 block of Gertrude Avenue at approximately 1:20 a.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found two female victims who had been shot.
Cleveland EMS pronounced the 19-year-old woman dead at the scene. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner later identified her as Crystal Pittman, 19, of Cleveland.
A 15-year-old girl was also injured in the shooting and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Her condition has not been released.
Police said a person of interest has been confirmed in the case, but no arrests have been announced and no additional details were provided as the investigation continues.
