OHIO — A young woman was injured in a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning after falling asleep at the wheel, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the crash occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of State Route 118 and Houk Road. An initial investigation determined that a gray Chevrolet Cruze, driven by an 18-year-old woman from Celina, was traveling southbound on State Route 118 when the driver fell asleep.

Officials said the vehicle crossed left of center and struck a mailbox before crashing into a utility pole. Emergency crews responded to the scene, and the driver was transported to Mercer Health for treatment of minor injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The incident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.
