
SOUTH CAROLINA — York police are investigating a road rage incident that escalated into a shooting Saturday morning on Alexander Love Highway near York Comprehensive High School.
According to the York Police Department, an 18-year-old man and a 72-year-old man became involved in a road-related altercation that turned into a confrontation. Police said both individuals were armed with pistols and that gunfire was exchanged.
The 72-year-old man sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm. He was treated at the scene and later transported to a local hospital for further care. The 18-year-old man was detained by officers at the scene.
Investigators are processing the scene, interviewing witnesses, and collecting evidence as part of the ongoing investigation. Police emphasized that no students, staff, or faculty from York Comprehensive High School were involved in the incident and that there is no threat to the school. Campus operations were not affected.
York officials are asking the public to avoid Alexander Love Highway between Highway 49 and Lincoln Road while the investigation continues. Additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
