AKRON — An 18-year-old woman was killed and two other teenagers injured in a shooting at a Halloween party in an Akron home late Saturday night, according to police.
Officers responded to a residence on Paris Avenue shortly after 10:45 p.m., finding 18-year-old Lashae Ellis suffering from severe gunshot wounds.
A 16-year-old boy and 17-year-old girl were also discovered nearby with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to police, the two younger victims had run from the party after being shot.
All three victims were transported to the hospital, where Ellis was later pronounced dead. The other two teens are expected to recover.
Following a brief foot chase at the scene, police arrested an 18-year-old man who allegedly discarded a handgun while fleeing.
Although police are still investigating whether he was involved in the shooting, the man faces charges for carrying a concealed weapon and obstructing official business.
He is currently in custody at Summit County Jail.
Police believe an unidentified male may have opened fire inside the house, hitting the victims.
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working to determine who was responsible for the shooting.
