OHIO — An 18-year-old Lockbourne woman was killed and another teenager was injured in a single-vehicle crash late Tuesday night in Scioto Township, according to the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Welch and Lane roads around 11:45 p.m. after an iPhone crash notification was received. Moments later, a 911 caller reported a wreck at the same location.
When deputies arrived, they found a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta that had crashed into a tree. The driver, identified as 18-year-old Kyla Caudy, was transported to Mount Carmel Grove City, where she later died from her injuries.
A 19-year-old passenger was taken to Grant Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
According to the sheriff’s office, Caudy had been traveling north on Welch Road when the vehicle slid off the right side of the roadway, went through wet grass, and struck a tree.
The crash remains under investigation.
